2014 Box 17

This is Box 17

4/8 Had this box up last year and chickadees failed a nest, decided to put it up last minute and a pair of Chickadees found it within an hour or less!

Hole reducer was added to box and wrens found and tossed out all the eggs. Very disappointed, hoping they will renest. Put a box up close by and crossed my fingers.

I took the new box for them down because I need it on the trail. I moved their failed box to the same spot the new box was in and left the nest in it. Today I found the nest being worked on once again by chickadees. This means they are renesting in the same box or a new pair. My guess is the same pair. I will wait for an egg to be layed and get it back on a pole with baffle, reducer, and wren guard!

You can see in this picture I didn't move the box too far from the original place and they chased after it. Maybe they just needed a few days to gather themselves after their loss.

After further investigation a wren was tearing out the chickadee nest. This is not a renest.
